This is inspired by a patient I cared for whom had come to the end of a life rife with conflict, internal and external, and had burned so many bridges that she was left with few options. Her final state was difficult for everyone involved, most of all herself.
lyrics
Mama’s comin' home again
yeah she’s hyped on meth again
Oh yeah she’s high as sin
You know I won’t be home when she comes callin'
I got this job at willie’s birds
I’ll keep it if I keep my word
I know the trouble that you’re in
but you know I don’t give two shits where you’re sleepin
CHORUS:
Cause i been wondering where you have been all these years
I’ve been wondering why i cried so many tears
Mama you’ve been so long comin'
I'm on the other side of wondering
You got your room at the astro motel
what more can you want from me now
you know you can’t come here
cause I got sweet babies I won’t let you near
They tell me that your hearts not working
Cant keep up with all your drinking
Oh I bet it never did
This mean old woman never had too much heart to give
CHORUS
Cold in the nights when you’re out roaming
Drugs run hot and they keep you going
Oh, you’d rather sink on in
To that haze of meth and benzodiazepine
Sip, sip, sip on that whiskey there
And you tip tip tip on that kitchen chair
And I caught you so many times before
This time that battle will leave you right there on the floor
CHORUS
Burned that bridge that you rode in on
Whipped the horse and now he's long gone
You've got nothing left to choose
You'll just take the quickest way to lose
Take your last sip and you’ll be dying
I'll Be there and i’ll be crying
But you know I won’t be
Callin' you back anywhere close to me
CHORUS
