One of my dearest and most troubled patients spent the bulk of our visits in tears. Her life was one filled with misery and struggle and this history filled the room each time we met. After several visits I realized my role was more repository than anything else.
lyrics
Never had no one that cared for me
No loving mother, only spite and misery
She cast me out the moment I was born
S blight on her health I was bringing her down
Into a marriage fired in pain
A hateful man who taught me fear
sons born and torn from my aching heart
I would have stayed but those fists tore me apart
CHORUS:
Take my tears, take all of em
I brought em here cause I don’t want em
I been cryin' all alone all these many years
I thought for a change I’d leave 'em here
Ran up the border, like a coyote in the night
Laying my burdens in my saviour’s light
But no redemption waited no end in sight
Only poverty to keep me struggling night after night
CHORUS
I'm aching and I can't get up
I've watched my life turn from ashes to dust
I've got no dreams, only heaven above
my tears, so many cried, I wish they'd just dry up
CHORUS
